At ArtsWorcester, we believe that contemporary art—the art made here and now, of all kinds and all traditions– is fundamental to a vibrant, educated, and diverse city. Our mission–to advance and celebrate contemporary art in Central Massachusetts–benefits artists and audiences alike, at all stages of experience and knowledge.

Each year, ArtsWorcester 

• produces some fifteen exhibitions across three galleries and on our website
• exhibits the work of over 500 emerging and established artists
• offers educational experiences to the general public and for area institutions
• provides artists professional development
• and links local businesses to artists through a corporate art program.

Art shapes and enriches our lives, while contributing substantively to social, economic, and civic development. Art has the power to start and sustain difficult conversations, allowing people to find common ground and create alliances. It brings joy, pleasure, and new knowledge of other lives and experiences.

We take our commitment to all artists, and our service as a public good, seriously. Anyone may become an exhibiting artist here, regardless of medium, training, or background. A range of opportunities, from open member shows to highly competitive prize exhibitions, engages artists at all levels of experience. 

For visitors, our galleries are open, accessible, and free to all, offering multiple new experiences with contemporary art every year. Our small but devoted staff makes contemporary art accessible, joyous, engaging, and exciting–not intimidating or pretentious. All visitors, from experienced gallery-goers to the curious newcomers, are welcome here.
