Material Needs 2024

September 5 - October 20, 2024

materials funded: adhesives, wood

Growth and decay are two powerful opposing forces. Both are necessary for human existence and surround us daily, but there is often friction that interrupts our ability to accept this inevitable cycle. It is this paradox that Danielle Ray embraces in her sculptural series, Beauty from Ashes.

Inspired by the way that nature has perfected the growth and decay cycle, Ray utilizes found materials, both organic and manmade, that she collects in the woods around her house. In manipulating these materials, she breathes new life into them as works of art.
